The Glen Ellyn Police Department participates in a prescription medication drug take-back program and offers these services free to Glen Ellyn residents (incorporated and unincorporated). The disposal box is located in the police department lobby.
Drug disposal boxes provide safe collection and disposal of drugs as another means of minimizing the cycle of prescription drug abuse and addiction. Additionally, the proper disposal of prescription medications is environmentally friendly as it prevents medications from entering the water supply via tossing them in the trash or flushing them down the toilet.
Valid government identification is required to gain access to the disposal box. Identification and the items you wish to deposit must be presented to the Records Clerks in the police department lobby.
All items are subject to inspection by police department staff prior to accessing the disposal box. Prohibited items will be required to be removed by the depositor prior to gaining access to the disposal box. The below list is a summary of prohibited items and not all-inclusive.
