The Glen Ellyn Police Department has temporarily suspended collection for the drug disposal box. The nearest collection site is located at the DuPage County Sheriff's Office, 501 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton. The drop box is located at the west entrance of the Sheriff's Office.
The Glen Ellyn Police Department recently partnered with the DuPage County Health Department’s RxBox program to place a drug disposal box in the lobby of the Glen Ellyn Police Department. The box was provided by SCARCE through a grant from the DuPage Foundation.
Drug disposal boxes provide safe collection and disposal of drugs as another means of minimizing the cycle of prescription drug abuse and addiction. Additionally, the proper disposal of prescription medications is environmentally friendly as it prevents medications from entering the water supply via tossing them in the trash or flushing them down the toilet.
