Planning  Division


Planning applications and plan reviews will continue with communications to take place by phone and electronically. Plan submittal and payments will be processed similar to Building Permits (see submittal details).


Department staff works closely with residents, business owners and developers to process zoning, development and landmark applications through the Zoning Board of Appeals, Plan Commission and Historic Preservation Commission, respectively. All of the Commissions staffed by the Department are advisory to the Village Board. Some of the requests reviewed by these Commissions include, among others:

  • Landmark Requests
  • Sign Variations
  • Subdivisions
  • Zoning Variations
  • Special Use Permits

A handful of applications can be reviewed administratively by staff. A summary table of the different Application Review Processes is available. More detailed information about the different processes can be found in the respective application packets.
