Parkway Trees

Trees planted on the parkway (usually the area between the street and the sidewalk) are the property of the Village of Glen Ellyn.

Parkway Reforestation Program

The Village selects the species and replaces the tree in the order in which it was removed as part of its annual tree replacement program. Replacement usually occurs within 18 months. There is no direct cost to the resident.

Parkway Tree Maintenance & Pruning

Trees planted on the parkway (usually the area between the street and the sidewalk) are the property of the Village of Glen Ellyn. If you have concerns about the health or maintenance of a parkway tree, please call the Public Works Department at 630-469-6756 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

In addition to pruning on an as-needed basis, the Village undertakes a parkway tree pruning program during November through March. The Village is decided into five pruning zones. Every zone is pruned once every five years by either Village staff or a contractor hired by the Village.

For more information, view the tree pruning zones map (PDF), which shows where Public Works will be trimming trees during its annual winter pruning project.
