Applications

The Building Permit Application forms are available at the Community Development Department service counter or on the Applications, Forms & Guidelines page. The various applications are intended to apply to typical construction projects; however, some sections may not be applicable to your work or additional information may be required for special conditions.

The applications include some general project questions that provide us with the information necessary to quickly and accurately process the application. Contact information is required for the primary project participants for general communications, plan reviews, and notifications. For your convenience, most forms are fillable.

Over-the-Counter (OTC) and Small Building Permits with Plan Reviews

Small common projects have their own separate applications according to project activity. To find out what application to use for your specific project. Please refer to the “What Application to Use” guide.

PLEASE NOTE: On the OTC Application and the Small Building Permits with Plan Review Application, the first column on page three is for a quantity (number) which will assist in auto-calculating the total fees if applying for multiple OTC projects for the same address.  Please note all wording in RED as these are required submissions (specific and general).

All the applications are fillable, meaning you can type directly into the form and print or save to your computer. Once printed you may sign the application, scan and email along with all required submissions to buildingpermits@glenellyn.org. In the subject line of the email, type the project address and project activity for assist in email location and tracking.

Application Requirements

All applications require the estimated total project cost and remodeling hard cost if applicable. All new construction and remodeling projects require square footage of the project scope of work. Based on the total project scope, certain building and Illinois Accessibility Code improvements may be required.

Contractors

All contractors are required to comply with the license and insurance requirements under Village Code Section 4-1-11 and must be identified on this Contractor Listing Sheet submitted with the permit application.  Contractors working on a project address in violation of this code section may be served with a citation, or a Stop Work Order may be issued, or the Building Permit may be suspended or revoked.

Signature & Certification

All applications must be signed and certified by the property owner and the building permit applicant to ensure that they understand and agree to comply with all applicable Village Code requirements.
