The process of hiring police officers for the Village of Glen Ellyn is the responsibility of the Glen Ellyn Fire and Police Commission. Individuals interested in becoming a police officer for the Village of Glen Ellyn must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 20 years of age at time of examination.
- Be 21 years of age at time of appointment.
- Must not have attained 35 years of age at time of employment.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be a citizen of the United States of America.
- Possess a valid drivers’ license.
Qualified persons are required to attend an orientation hosted by the Department. They must then successfully complete a written examination, physical agility (POWER) test and personnel assessment. All applicants will be subjected to a thorough background investigation followed by an interview before the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. Applicants are required to pass a polygraph examination and final appointment to the Police Department is contingent upon the successful completion of a psychological and medical examination. |
