Ride DuPage
Ride DuPage is a subsidized transportation program for senior citizens (65 years and older) and individuals with disabilities who are residents of the Village of Glen Ellyn. Service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is provided through a combination of taxi cabs and Pace mini buses. The cash fare is a $1 flag pull and $1 for each mile traveled. Registration is required for this program. Please call the Senior Service Center to register or for more information.
Senior Health Insurance Program
The Glen Ellyn Senior Service Center is a Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) site. SHIP provides free individual counseling services to assist senior citizens with questions about Medicare or supplemental insurance and to help with medical insurance problems. Please contact the Senior Service Center to schedule an appointment regarding SHIP. SHIP is sponsored by the Illinois Department of Insurance.
RTA Reduced Fare Cards
The Glen Ellyn Senior Center is a registration site for RTA Reduced Fare Cards, which are available to seniors aged 65 or older. The Reduced Fare Card allows senior citizens to ride all RTA Services (which includes Metra, Pace & CTA) at a reduced rate. There is a $3.00 charge to process this application for non-residents. This card also allows residents of Milton Township to use the DIAL-A-RIDE service for $.75 each way. Please contact Milton Township for additional information about this program at 630-668-1616.
Monthly Newsletter
The Glen Ellyn Senior Service Center produces a newsletter each month with interesting articles, puzzles and word games, information about events in the area and a menu for the hot meals. Please call the Senior Service Center if you would like to be added to the mailing list. There is no charge for this service.
Bingo is held at the Senior Service Center the second Wednesday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Refreshments and prizes are provided. Participants are welcome to stay for the hot meal after each activity. A donation of $3 is requested for the meal. Free blood pressure screenings are also offered before bingo each month, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Home Delivered Meal Program
The Senior Service Center serves hot meals Monday through Friday at 11:15 a.m. Meal reservations should be made at least 24 hours in advance and a donation of $3 is requested for each meal. Home delivered meals are prepared and delivered out of the Senior Service Center. Please call 630-858-6325 for further information.
Flu Shot Clinic
The Senior Service Center offers a Flu Shot Clinic during October or November each year, depending on the available supply of vaccine. Other activities such as theme parties, guest speakers and health screenings are offered throughout the year. Please call the Senior Service Center (or request the newsletter) for more information on upcoming events.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities are available at the Senior Service Center. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday to deliver hot lunchtime meals to homebound senior citizens in the community. Often our volunteers are the only contact a senior will have throughout the day. This can be a very rewarding way to give back to your community. Please contact the Senior Service Center for information on available volunteer opportunities.
