The Planning and Development Department provides direct staff support to the Architectural Review Commission, the Building Board of Appeals, the Plan Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals.  Please find below a summary of each commission’s responsibilities.  For more information, please contact the Village Clerk at 630-547-5201 or the Planning and Development Department at 630-547-5250.

The Architectural Review Commission reviews and advises the Village Board on applications for the exterior appearance of non-residential and multi-family residential buildings and on sign variation requests. 

The Building Board of Appeals advises the Village Board on amendments to and adoption of the Building Codes.

The Plan Commission is responsible for reviewing and advising the Village Board on requests for approval of special use permits, subdivisions, planned unit developments, stormwater variations, zoning code text amendments or zoning map amendments. 

The Zoning Board of Appeals reviews and advises the Village Board on applications for approval of zoning variations for single-family and two-family dwellings.
