About the Sister City Partnership
In 2014, the Village of Glen Ellyn joined together with Le Bouscat, France to form a Sister City partnership.  The partnership was formed to foster mutual opportunities for cultural, educational and economic exchanges that highlight the diversity and rich culture between the two international partners. Le Bouscat is located in the Bordeaux region of France and boasts many similarities to Glen Ellyn such as population, strong local economy and a vibrant and engaged citizenry.
Market Francais
In honor of the Sister City partnership, in April 2015, the Village’s Civic Center was transformed into a French Street Market, for the first annual Market Français. Residents and visitors had the opportunity to experience French food, culture and a variety of French inspired items for sale by local Glen Ellyn and DuPage County vendors. The free event, open to the public, provided live music, games for children and prizes.

Glen Ellyn and LeBouscat Visits

In April of 2015, the Village of Glen Ellyn welcomed officials from Le Bouscat, France, including the Mayor of Le Bouscat and his spouse.  For two days, Glen Ellyn Village officials provided a tour of notable Village sites and businesses, showcased the cuisine that Glen Ellyn offers and celebrated the partnership with a reception.

Three months later, in July of 2015, Glen Ellyn’s Village President, Alex Demos and his spouse, visited Le Bouscat, France.  During the three-day tour, President Demos had the opportunity to meet with local businesses, civic leaders and the city’s board of commissioners to learn how local services are shared between regional and municipal French governments.
In 2016, the Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale (GEWC) visited the Sister City, Le Bouscat, in June during their performance tour. The GEWC participated in a special joint concert with a local choir during their visit in Le Bouscat where the Sister Cities shared in their mutual love for singing.
