Overview

The Village of Glen Ellyn’s Administration Department consists of the Village Manager’s Office, the Village Clerk’s Office and the Facilities Maintenance Division.  The Administration Department is responsible for administering the programs and policies established by the Village Board, research and policy recommendation,  public communication, administration of special projects, the refuse and recycling program, maintenance of Village-owned properties, various RFP and contract negotiation, and meeting agendas and packet preparation, just to name a few.  The Administration Department also provides a variety of services to residents including notary public, general information and directions and assistance with complaints.

Village Manager's Office

The Village of Glen Ellyn operates under the Council-Manager form of government and is a home rule community, which gives the Village Board a broad range of authority over local affairs. Under this form of government, the Village Manager, who is appointed by the Village Board, administers the programs and policies established by the Village Board, directs and coordinates the operations of the Village departments, and informs the Village Board on Village affairs and issues. The Village Manager's Office oversees a variety of duties, including some duties assigned to the Village Collector, and coordinates Village communications, such as the Village website, newsletter, calendar and downtown sign. The Village Manager’s office also oversees the refuse and recycling program and provides staff assistance to the Village Board, Environmental Commission and Historic Preservation Commission.
Village Clerk's Office
The Village Clerk is an elected official responsible for maintaining the official Village Seal and the official records of the Village of Glen Ellyn. The Village Clerk attends meetings of the Village Board, keeps a record of its proceedings, publishes and attests to all resolutions and ordinances and contracts passed by the Village Board and seals and attests to all contracts of the Village, as well as other licenses, permits, and documents. The Village Clerk is responsible for all Village election responsibilities not assumed by DuPage County.

Facilities Maintenance Division

The Facilities Maintenance Division is responsible for maintenance and custodial services to Village-owned properties. Village-owned properties include the Civic Center, the Reno Public Works Center, Glen Ellyn Fire Stations No. 1 and No. 2, Stacy’s Tavern Museum, and the History Center facility. The Facilities Maintenance Division provides assistance to the Village Utilities Division drinking water system buildings, the Glenbard Wastewater Authority facility and the Metra Train Station. The Facilities Maintenance Division is also responsible for coordinating and assisting in the use of the Civic Center meeting rooms and auditorium by outside groups.
