Community Development

The Community Development Department provides support to the Plan Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Historic Preservation Commission, and Building Board of Appeals. The Department's responsibilities extend to participation on the boards of the Chamber of Commerce and the Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn. The Department's 18 employees coordinate the review and analysis of all development projects, maintains land use and building records, issues building permits, provides building inspections, enforces codes, conducts occupancy inspections, assigns fees and deposits, coordinates license agreements, registers contractors, prepares right-of-way vacations, monitors various escrow accounts, prepares and oversees annexations and annexation agreements, and assists in the preparation of long term plans and planning policies.
